Bemidji Warrant Checks
A Bemidji warrant check has three doors. City police, the county court, and the county records desk each handle one piece, but only the court can confirm whether a warrant is open, so call Court Administration first.
- Call Beltrami County Court Administration with your legal name, date of birth, and any citation or case number.
- Ask the Bemidji Police Department about the report or citation itself if you need the police paperwork.
- Use the state court case search to locate the case and its docket entries, and treat the result as incomplete.
- Ask Sheriff Records for a specific police record, because the county center holds Bemidji police files.
- Ask the court what action closes the warrant, then ask for written confirmation.
Why Bemidji Has No City Warrant Index
The city posts no Bemidji warrant search. The police page covers staffing and call volume, while the city forms page handles parking review and administrative fine hearings, and neither is a court docket. Once a citation becomes a court matter, it moves to District Court. Bemidji has nothing left to list. The county's Active Warrants page does the same, carrying a notice about a records system migration and pointing readers to Court Administration instead of a roster. Outside sites promise a Bemidji warrant list anyway. None of it comes from the city.
Bemidji's 27,000 Police Calls and One Court Route
Bemidji Police describes a force of 34 licensed peace officers, three support staff, and one community service officer. Of those, 25 officers work patrol. Five sit in investigations. The same page puts the department's call volume near 27,000 calls a year.
Those numbers measure activity. They are not warrant totals, and every Bemidji case still runs through the county court.
Policing and Courts in Bemidji
Two of these Bemidji offices share one building and still do separate work. The police department answers for its reports. The court answers for the case file. City hall answers for administrative tickets, so match your question to the right desk before you go.

A police report and a court warrant are separate documents in Bemidji. Only the warrant puts a case on a judge's calendar.
Bemidji Parking Tickets Are Not Warrants
Bemidji publishes a request for administrative review of a parking ticket and a request for hearing on an administrative fine. Both are city processes that stay at city hall. Paying or contesting one does not clear a court warrant, and a city receipt never proves a court case closed. Two systems, two receipts, two offices. Note: Ask which process a ticket belongs to before paying, because the money goes to different places.
Warrants in Bemidji: The Main Types
Minnesota runs no city criminal court in Bemidji. A citation filed in court belongs to District Court, so warrant types follow the state system rather than any city template.
| Warrant Type | How It Arises | Who Issues It |
|---|---|---|
| Traffic warrant | A citation payment or traffic date is missed | District Court judge |
| Bench warrant | A required court appearance is missed | District Court judge |
| Arrest warrant | A charge follows a police investigation | District Court judge, on probable cause |
| Indictment warrant | A grand jury returns an indictment | District Court judge |
A city administrative ticket is not on that list.
Two Clerks, Two Different Jobs in Bemidji
The Bemidji city clerk keeps city records. City data requests go there too. The District Court administrator keeps the court file for a case. Cross the two and you land at the wrong desk. That wastes a trip. City hall keeps weekday hours from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and the Judicial Center runs the same schedule. The Bemidji City Hall page lists the city desk address and its hours.
City hall answers for city records; the Judicial Center answers for the court file.
Bemidji Warrant Records: What They Show
A Bemidji court warrant carries the fields Minnesota's criminal rules require. Write the case number down first. Every later call starts with it.
| Case Number | The District Court file number for the case |
|---|---|
| Citation Reference | The officer's ticket number, tied to the case file |
| Offense | The statute or ordinance cited, as charged in the court file |
| Issuing Judge | The judge who signed the order |
| Bail and Conditions | Any amount or release terms the order sets |
| Status | Active, served, recalled, quashed, or satisfied |
A city ticket that never entered court will not have these fields.
What to Do If a Bemidji Citation Turns Into an FTA
A missed payment or appearance can turn a Bemidji citation into a warrant. Once the deadline passes, the court issues an order for failure to appear. That order belongs to the court, not the city. The state also warns that failing to appear can bring a warrant and a license notification. So call Court Administration and ask three things. Is there an open warrant on the case? Would payment end it? Ask too whether the case can be handled at warrant court, then bring photo identification and the citation number, since a city payment alone may not have closed the Bemidji court file.
Bemidji Warrants and Beltrami County
A Bemidji case runs through the county system.
Warrant flow: Bemidji Police › Beltrami County District Court › Beltrami County Sheriff
A Bemidji case goes to the county's District Court. The sheriff serves the warrants it issues. The Bemidji jail holds people arrested on them. Anything filed in Bemidji runs through the same court file and records rules covering Blackduck, Kelliher, Tenstrike, and Turtle River. For the county-wide picture, start with Beltrami County warrant records.
Bemidji Warrant Records Requests at the Shared LEC
The Law Enforcement Center at 613 Minnesota Ave NW houses the sheriff, the records desk, and the Bemidji Police Department. The county records office maintains initial, investigative, and criminal files for the sheriff, Bemidji police, and Blackduck police. Name the record, the agency, and the case number. A request should also say whether you are the data subject. The county's 2026 schedule sets the fees. Research costs $50 an hour. There is a one-hour minimum, copies run $0.25 a page, and color printing costs $1 a page.
